Greetings!

This is the history of Strange Worlds Entertainment Forum, otherwise known as SWEF. Through the years, many changes have happened to SWEF. As with all changes, some are good, and some are bad.

SWEF was created by Derek Sweet, to be a Star Wars based roleplaying experience. At that time, it's full name was "Star Wars: Elite Forces". For many years, the games went very well under Sherri's command. However a change was brewing.

SWEF's chat and newsgroup servers were being supplied by MSN, and all was going well. Some people may remember the transformations MSN went through early on. One of those transformations eliminated SWEF's ability to use the MSN servers, and a scramble to obtain a new set of servers was very active. Without the servers, the games were dead in the water. Fortunately, a chat server was found and the games could continue. Unfortunately, the newsgroups didn't have the same luck.

The next change came soon after that. Due to real life issues, which do occur to those of us online, Sherri had to take her leave of SWEF. In her haste, she had no named a successor, and the game masters had to get together to decide who was able to do the job. Those who were the best candidates had real life issues to deal with and couldn't commit the time. So a vote was cast, and a new leader was elected.

Ron, the new SWEF leader, did what he could to sort things out. However it was a short lived reign, since he too had some time committment issues to deal with. It was decided that another vote so soon would not go well, so he appointed his successor.

Rick, the now current SWEF leader, took the ball and ran with it. He updated as much of the SWEF documents and rules, as possible, to help the Game Masters. Most of the changes were met with little friction. The changes that did meet with friction were discussed and the needs of the Game Masters were met.

Another storm cloud was on the horizon, though. The Star Wars based games were fading, and the player's interests were shifting. To keep the few players that were left, it was decided to change the format of SWEF. With the help of the Game Masters and players, Rick changed the name of SWEF to Strange Worlds Entertainment Forums. The transformation went quite smoothly, due to the previous work done to help streamline SWEF.

Yet another problem cropped up. The owner of the chat server decided that the server resources needed to be reallocated, thus making SWEF in need for a new one. After some evaluation, Rick found a new chat server and set it up for the Game Masters and players. At the same time, he took the website, which was running on a free Tripod site, and moved it to a hosted server, to rid the site of pop-ups and advertisements.

And that is where we are today. There are constantly new games being added and improvements to SWEF being made.

Derek Sweet's original creation lives on to this very day with some of our Star Wars games. However, we have expanded beyond the Star Wars Universe to bring in other games. Diversity is something that has helped many people in the past, and we are hoping that this will be no different for SWEF.

I hope you find our fight, to keep the games alive, interesting. We do. SWEF is destined to be around for a while, and we are hoping that you will be apart of that destiny. Take a look around the website and our messageboard, then join us for some fun. You never know what will happen in our games. That's what's so exciting about them.

Thanks for showing an interest in Strange Worlds Entertainment Forum.

Enjoy the Experience!
